Here are the compiled illustrations I made for the “Profile Pictures Project”. The project started around December 1 where I asked my twitter friends if they wanted a profile picture similar to mine. Only a few responded but I had so much fun making them that it took me a few days for each because I was so into it. Haha. Anyways everything below is for free! So these will be my holiday gifts for Lian, Dycee, Xyza and GZEP. ♥
Let’s see who greeted us this holiday season with their cute/amazing illustrations!
1.) Heyanjo - The talented Filipino artist gave his facebook fans/friends his signature style of sexy ladies illustration and a simple (spankin’) holiday message for everyone! So smexy!
2.) Yana Toboso - Our very own mangaka of Black Butler being so deadly and smexy at the same time. BTW I really dig out the SebastianXCiel thing! nyahahaha~
3.) Rob Cham! - Nothing beats a good holiday cheer without reading his funny comics! Seriously! I laughed so hard when I read the “Bad Movie Remakes” part. It’s so true about the movie industry nowadays, hopefully we could watch something that doesn’t have a “Part 2, 3, 4” in their titles hehe~
4.) Fifi Lapin - Well it’s not really much of a holiday greeting but more of a, “Hey I’m going on a vacation so bye and see you later!” thing. Anyways I still appreciate the fact that she left her infamous XOXO Bunny kisses for everyone in the holidays before going~
5.) Elodie - Ms. french illustrator however left her viewers with a very cute illustration of a child with a cute cat for the holidays. Honestly cats are my favorite~
6.) Junko Mizuno - Hmmm not really a greeting but still she baked it for us! Haha~
Last one for the set! This is the line art for GZEP’s twitter profile picture.
I absolutely love the new work Val has made for this month’s Designare Magazine! Her signature style is so beautiful at par with the model pictures. Wish I could grab one copy of the magazine!
Check out Valerie Chua’s blog post about this collaboration! Quietgirl.net ♥♥♥
I’ve been doodling and sketching a lot last night while reflecting on the good times from 2011. From doodling weird feline characters to my attempt to draw a freakish chinese dragon, I really think that 2012 is a new year to look forward to! SO HAPPY NEW YEARTO ALL OF YOU MY LOVELY AND HANDSOME READERS!
Aside from being a big fan of Tokidoki bags, I also like the super cute fashionista,Fifi Lapin! I’ve been a fan of hers since 2009 when my mom coincidentally bought me this cute bag from Hawaii. So I’ve researched her blog back then and now I am a certified fan of this cute hare-iss ♥ The bag is really cute and handy when I go to my beach trips since the material is really light and waterproof!
On a side note, LeSportsac has a very good line of artists for their Artists in Residence collection every season. Check out their website for new artists and their respective bag designs! Currently for Fifi Lapin, she’s also back with a new line entitled Vaudeville. I haven’t seen the collection here locally but hopefully there will be in LeSportsac HK branches.
Here’s another art book review before I leave for the holidays! The New Age of Feminine Drawing NO. 2 (by Allrightsreserved) is a book series showcasing illustrations that empower the idea of “Feminine.” From fashion illustrations, product designs, mixed media commercials, lifestyle pages, posters and more, this book will help you visualize how strong illustrations seduce their target audience in an artsy-farsty manner. (No joke tee-hee)
Favorite artists of mine like Fifi Lapin, James Jean, Raphael Vicenzi, Annika Wester, etc. are all included in the 2nd edition (that’s why I bought it actually hehe). But what I seriously love about this art book are the “Behind the scenes” with the artists’ work.
In the Behind the Scenes (BTS) part like this one above, the artist shares her experiences with how she starts an illustration and discusses her “movement” style with her work. So pretty much, the BTS pages shows a step by step process by the illustrators and as a self taught artist this is just so awesome!
Since I started drawing, I’ve been using a trial and error method (I never went to art school, so don’t ask me anything about plates tee-hee) so these articles will simply expose me on how to start a good illustration/sketch…the right way. Plus it’s a good learning to see different views.
I bought my art book @ Page One in HongKong Harbour City but you can always order from Fullybooked.
4th set from my Profile Picture project :) This is for Saiza-chan on twitter. ♥
Next up is Dycee Co’s profile picture. She gave me a mori inspired picture so I had her hair in curls and with flowers.
Currently I’m making 5 profile pictures for friends in Twitter. Since I had so much fun making mine, I thought I could make some for other people. So please look forward to it!
